Integrating GIS Systems Into Current Workflow

Highly connected “Smart Cities” are on the rise and GIS will play a significant role in accessing and interfacing with the immense amount of data supporting these cities. Recent developments between ESRI and AutoDesk have allowed integration of two of the top data management platforms, ArcGIS and BIM 360. Capitalizing on this development will mean greater clarity and efficiency on existing and future projects.

The Ethical Responsibility of Utility Providers

Public Utilities provide the vital services that make modern life possible. Pacific Gas & Electric is a natural gas and electricity provider to much of the state of California. On November 8, 2018, a wildfire sparked to life not far from the town of Paradise. Within hours the entire city was engulfed by the fire and scores of individuals, who could not escape in time, perished. Through many investigations, the cause of the fire was determined to be a failure in the electrical transmission line owned and operated by Pacific Gas & Electric.
